Yep. Ties. In a fly shop. But they are from Simms, so it’s ok. Really. So, for those of you who wear these things, they are here!

As scary as it is, December is here, and that means two things -
One: the shop is again in full Christmas mode
Two: our annual Christmas party is approaching quickly on Saturday, December 12.
This year we have changed it up a little bit! Instead of the normal catered goodies, each of the staff members will be preparing a chili of their choosing for you to judge. Since we all think our recipes are the best, we’ve decided to let you all be the judge! For those non-chili folks, we’ll have hot dogs, and very likely a fried turkey if Mr. Leake has his way.
We look forward to seeing you all!!
Thank you to everyone who attended our screening of the 2009 Drake Magazine Fly Fishing Tour, this past Wednesday at the Magnolia Theatre. We had close to 500 folks in attendance, with a good number stopping by the shop for “pre-game” festivities! We should have a great spread of photos coming soon, thanks to one Shannon Drawe, who put together a cool little montage on his blog, Texas Fly Caster.
For those who were unable to grab one at the theatre, we have a small selection of the “official” t-shirts still available, either at the shop or the Twin Tail Clothing Company’s website HERE for $10. If you would like us to put one aside for you, just give a shout.
We hope you all had as wonderful a time at the show as we did, and look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s show, and in the shop for Christmas!

Welcome to the first post on Somethins Fishy, your home for all things of the fly in DFW Metroplex and beyond! Sounds grand, but we’ll try to keep our heads from swelling too much on these pages. Expect to see everything from bream fishing in Turtle Creek to Giant Trevally in the Seychelles, the chase for Golden Bones (i.e. your friendly neighborhood carp), and Redfish on the coast. Stay tuned, it’s going to be a wild ride.
As titled, 2009 starts with Chile! Well, at least for Brent Boone it does. After 11 hours of flying he has reported in via Skype that he has arrived safely, and will be sharing photos and stories from his 27 day trip. We feel wonderful that Brent is there, fishing his tail off for most of the month of January, while we remain here to keep things running. Really. Really. Wonderful. No jealousy at all, we swear. He hits the water tomorrow, so hopefully we’ll have an updated report for Monday’s posting! A great way to start the year (especially for Boone)!
In the meantime, feel free to look around at those topics we have listed, and although they are lean currently, we will be adding content at a prolific rate over the coming month, so be sure to bookmark us, and check back soon! Thanks for reading and tight lines!
